  1. Alex is a filesystem that lets users access files in FTP sites around
  2. the world just like they access local files.  The name Alex comes from 
  3. the ancient Library of Alexandria. Alexandria gathered information from 
  4. around the world into one easy to access location. Alex does an analogous 
  5. thing in a very modern way.

  7. Source to Alex is now available on alex.sp.cs.cmu.edu in the `src'
  8. subdirectory.
